Ezz, read from the back office rather than the brochure

This is the English edition of a notebook kept from Portugal. It is not the operator and not a scoreboard. What it does is translate the machinery an English-reading resident runs into on day one: entidade and referência, MB WAY allowances, IBAN PT50, the three documents verification will demand, and the practical weight of an operator that does not appear in the SRIJ register.

The cashier vocabulary nobody translates for you

Guides written elsewhere describe a generic cashier. In Portugal the cashier speaks a specific dialect, and four words carry most of the meaning. Entidade is the five-digit code that identifies who is being paid. Referência is the nine-digit number that identifies your individual payment inside that entity. Multibanco is the interbank network the whole thing runs on, reachable from any ATM screen and from every home-banking portal. MB WAY is the mobile layer on top of it, bound to a phone number and confirmed inside the bank's own application.

Those distinctions are not decorative. A reference payment never exposes card or account details to the merchant, which is why many residents prefer it for gambling deposits; in exchange it is strictly one-directional and expires. MB WAY settles in seconds but obeys a per-transaction and per-day allowance set by your bank, not by the platform — check it inside the banking app before blaming the cashier for a refusal. Cards authorise instantly and refund along the same rail. A SEPA transfer needs the IBAN PT50 typed correctly and counts in business days. Wallets such as Skrill and Neteller shorten the way out at the cost of one more intermediary holding the money.

Minimum withdrawal sits at €20. The rail-by-rail notes, including what each one leaves on a bank statement, live on the banking hub, and the return journey is set out under withdrawals.

Three documents, prepared before they are asked for

Verification is not optional, only postponable, and postponing it means waiting at the worst possible moment. The set is short: a Cartão de Cidadão photographed front and back with all four corners in frame — or a passport plus a residence document for those who have not been issued one yet; a proof of address no older than three months, where a utility bill or a bank statement both qualify; and evidence of the payment instrument that funded the account. The NIF, Portugal's tax number, is sometimes requested separately.

One rule underpins all of them: matching ownership. The name on the identity document, the name on the IBAN and the name on the gambling account have to be the same name. Funding an account with a partner's card solves an evening and creates a blocked balance later, because payouts only travel to an instrument registered to the account holder. The form itself is walked through under sign-up.

What the SRIJ register does and does not cover

Online gambling in Portugal is governed by Decree-Law 66/2015 and supervised by the Serviço de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos, an authority inside Turismo de Portugal. Operators holding a national licence appear on a public list and run on .pt addresses; checking that list takes less time than reading one clause of anybody's terms.

Ezz is not on it. It works under international licensing instead, which is neither illegal for the player nor an accusation in itself — but it has four measurable effects. Disputes fall outside the Portuguese regulator's remit. The special online gaming tax is not withheld at source, so the declaration obligation moves to the player and the authoritative answer comes from the Autoridade Tributária rather than from a notebook like this one. Segregation of player funds depends entirely on the licensing jurisdiction's own rules. And the domestic safety nets — the Livro de Reclamações Eletrónico and the RAMJ self-exclusion register — stop at that same border. Our reservations in full are in the platform review, and the escalation ladder is under complaints.

Bonus balances, seen as a ledger entry

ClauseWhere it usually breaks
Opting inThe promotion has to be ticked in the cashier before paying, never afterwards
Wagering multiplierApplied to the bonus, the deposit, or both — the base changes the target
Game contributionSlots near 100%, live tables far lower, some titles at zero
Max stake on bonus fundsA per-round ceiling whose breach voids the balance silently
ExpiryCounts from the moment of credit, not from the first session
Withdrawing mid-rolloverClears the bonus balance and everything it generated

A bonus is a second pocket with its own rules, and it merges with the real balance only when a volume condition is met. Turning down a promotion is a legitimate choice that leaves the balance free of conditions — for anyone who mostly sits at croupier-dealt tables it is usually the rational one. The arithmetic is on the wagering page, and each campaign is unpacked under bonuses.

Eight titles from the catalogue

No total title count appears anywhere on this site, because that number moves with supplier rotation and exists mainly for advertising. No return-to-player percentages appear either: the same title can be installed in more than one configuration, so the only trustworthy figure is the one inside the game's own information panel. Where to find it, and what it means, is covered under slots, table games and live casino.

Notebook margins: for and against

In favour

  • The cashier speaks the local dialect: Multibanco references and MB WAY from €10
  • Bonus terms are published with the multiplier visible before the button
  • A light interface that survives patchy mobile coverage without dropping the session
  • Support answers around the clock in Portuguese and in English
  • Limit tools sit inside the account rather than behind an email request

Against

  • Absent from the SRIJ register: no Portuguese arbitration, no RAMJ coverage
  • The first payout is held until the document review finishes
  • Multibanco and Paysafecard cannot pay out, which reroutes the exit to transfer
  • Live-table contribution to wagering is low and devalues the offers
  • The Android package installs from outside Google Play, with the exposure that implies

Phone: browser or Android package

Recent hardware is not a requirement. The browser build keeps the session across devices and avoids the question of installing anything from outside an official store. The Android package saves the log-in step and starts faster, but it asks for permission to install from unknown sources — a setting that stays enabled long after the installation is over. There is no iOS equivalent, because the App Store does not carry software of this category. The comparison, with the risk of each route, is under the app page.

When a payment hangs

Pending is not the same as lost, but it rewards method. Four steps solve most cases and none of them is paying again: keep the bank receipt showing date, time and reference; screenshot the cashier in the state it is in; wait out the announced interbank cycle, which is short on business days and does not run at weekends; and only then open a ticket with the receipt attached and the reference in the subject line. Paying the same reference twice creates a duplicate that takes far longer to unwind than waiting would have taken. Channels and expectations are listed under contact.

Brakes worth fitting on day one

Deposit limits, loss limits, session reminders, time-outs and operator-level self-exclusion are all inside the account, and they work best configured before they are needed. Portugal also runs the RAMJ, the self-exclusion register administered by the SRIJ and requested with a Cartão de Cidadão or the Chave Móvel Digital, which covers nationally licensed operators in one action — and, because Ezz is not among them, does not reach this platform. Anyone for whom play has stopped being leisure can reach SICAD and the Linha Vida helpline on 1414, free and confidential. The full framing is under responsible gambling and limits and self-exclusion.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an entidade and a referência on a Portuguese deposit screen?

They are the two identifiers of a Multibanco payment. The entidade is a five-digit code that names the biller, the referência is a nine-digit number that identifies your specific payment, and the amount comes attached to them. All three are typed into an ATM under Payments and Purchases, or into home banking under service payments. The amount cannot be rounded, and the referência stops working once its validity window closes.

Does an English-speaking resident need a Portuguese bank account to play?

Not strictly, but it changes what is available. MB WAY and Multibanco references are tied to the domestic network, so a foreign IBAN cuts you down to cards, SEPA transfers and wallets. A SEPA transfer from another euro-area country still works and still lands in one to three business days, but it removes the two fastest local rails from the table.

Which documents does verification ask for in Portugal?

A Cartão de Cidadão photographed front and back, or a passport with a residence document; a proof of address issued within the last three months, which a utility bill or a bank statement satisfies; and evidence of the payment instrument used for the deposit. Some operators also ask for the NIF, the Portuguese tax number. Every name has to match the name on the gambling account.

Is Ezz on the SRIJ list of licensed operators?

It is not. The Serviço de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos publishes the register of operators authorised under Decree-Law 66/2015, and every one of them runs on a .pt address. Ezz sits outside that perimeter on international licensing, which removes Portuguese arbitration, leaves the special gaming tax unwithheld at source, and puts the RAMJ self-exclusion register out of reach.

Why does the cashier refuse an MB WAY amount that should be fine?
Because the ceiling belongs to your bank, not to the gambling platform. Each bank sets its own MB WAY allowance per transaction and per day, and it is visible inside the banking app. Almost every unexplained rejection at this step turns out to be that allowance rather than anything the operator did.
Can money go back out through the same route it came in?
Not always, and that is the detail that catches people. A Multibanco reference and a Paysafecard voucher are one-way instruments: they fund an account and cannot receive a payout. The balance leaves instead by transfer to an IBAN in the account holder's own name, which is why the exit route should be chosen before the first deposit, not after the first win.
How long is the first payout held?
For as long as the document review takes, because that review is triggered by the first request rather than by registration. The advertised timings — one to twelve business hours for wallets, the same business day for MB WAY, one to three business days for SEPA, under twenty-four hours for crypto — only start counting once verification has closed.
What should a first message to support contain?
The account identifier, the transaction reference, the exact date and time with the timezone, the amount, and a screenshot of the state the cashier is showing. A message with those five elements gets an answer; a message saying that a deposit did not arrive gets a request for those five elements and loses a day.
Where does a dispute go if the Portuguese regulator cannot help?
Through the operator's own complaints channel first, in writing and with evidence attached. If that fails, the alternative dispute body named in the operator's terms comes next, then the regulator of the jurisdiction that issued the licence. The payment provider is the last resort and works on its own deadlines, which are shorter than most people assume.
Who writes this English edition?
Nuno Salgueiro, who spent eleven years in payments back-office and fraud operations before writing about gambling platforms. The editorial rule is that a claim has to trace back to a public document — the SRIJ register, the operator's published terms, a bank's own conditions — or to a transaction receipt. Where no source exists, the text says so instead of supplying a plausible number. His notes on method are under the author page.

ezzcasino.info is an independent notebook, not the operator. It takes no deposits, opens no accounts and has access to no balance.

What this English edition is for

Plenty of English-language pages about Portuguese-facing casinos are translations of texts written for another market, and it shows the moment the cashier appears: they describe wallets nobody here uses and skip the two rails everybody does. This edition exists to close that gap — same notebook, same facts, written directly in English rather than passed through a translation of the Portuguese pages. None of it replaces the operator's published terms, which remain the binding document, and none of it is legal or tax advice.

When the operator says join now, that is the operator talking. This site's job ends where the reader's decision begins, and it includes writing the parts that do not flatter the platform — the absence from the SRIJ register being the plainest example. Who keeps the notebook is set out under about, and how it is funded is stated without euphemism in the affiliate disclosure.
