Settlement rules come before markets
One convention decides more slips than any tactical read: unless stated otherwise, football markets settle on ninety minutes plus stoppage time. Extra time and penalties do not count. The markets that carry the volume
The full-time result, in win, draw or loss, is the entry point. The Asian handicap removes the draw and allows risk to be graded through quarter lines that return half the stake on certain outcomes. Goal totals are traded mainly on the 2.5 and 3.5 lines and depend more on the style of both teams than on the quality gap between them.

What to check before confirming a slip
The decisive information is rarely in the table. It is more useful to confirm absences through injury and suspension, often published the day before; the number of rest days since the last fixture; and the kick-off time, because a side that travelled across Europe midweek and plays at Sunday lunchtime is at a genuine disadvantage. In April and May, motivation joins the list: a team with nothing left to play for behaves differently from one fighting relegation.
